Director Nagpur Test Tube Baby Centre. Ketkar Maternity Hospital And Research Institute
Dr Sadhana Patwardhan, the director of Nagpur Test Tube Baby Centre and Ketkar Maternity Hospital And Research Institute, was born on December 21, 1963. Being the eldest daughter of a disciplined army man and multifaceted mother late Major Suresh Sathe, and Mohini Sathe, Dr Sadhana was a meritorious and brilliant student throughout her childhood and later academic years. The uniformed army doctors at the military hospital and their services motivated her to choose the noble profession in early childhood. She graduated from Government Medical College Nagpur in 1985 with gold medals. Being the best girl student of Nagpur University, she did her first post graduation know paediatrics from government medical college. She was motivated to pursue her second post graduate degree in gynaecology and obstetrics with inspiration and motivation from her sister-in-law, late Dr Mangala Ketkar, the legendary obstetrician gynaecologist and infertility specialist.
GLIMPSE OF HER LIFE
She is happily married to Meghan Patwardhan, a civil engineer partner at JP Constructions and JP safe deposit vaults. The duo is blessed with a daughter, Dr Ashlesha Patwardhan who is studying masters in reproductive medicine in UK; and a son, Abhishek Patwardhan, a petroleum engineer and entrepreneur.
SUCCESS STORY AND ACHIEVEMENT
After post graduation, Dr Sadhana took an extensive training in sonography, endoscopy, and ART (Assisted Reproductive Technique) from India and abroad. She, along with Late Dr Mangala Ketkar, established a state-of-the-art IVF centre at Nagpur in December 2000. Their centre has been scripting success stories since two and half decades, blessing thousands of couples in India and abroad with parenthood. Ketkar hospital has been developed as a one-step solution with all facilities under one roof and made healthcare available to all stratums of society. Not only this, Dr Sadhana has been a faculty at national and international conferences, contributed chapters in various textbooks of infertility and obstetrics and gynaecology. She is an active member of special interest group (SIG) endocrinology of European Society of Human Reproduction, executive member of Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction, and secretary general of Maharashtra State chapter of ISAR.

CHALLENGES FACED BEING A WOMAN
Being a woman and dedicated professional is a big challenge. Balancing family, work, and academics was tough job; however, what made it easy for Dr Sadhana was strong family support, inspiration, and motivation.
TIME FOR YOURSELF
She is very much a family person, spends her weekends and time with my family and close friends. Dr Sadhana enjoys music, reading, and gardening. Her biggest stress buster is her pug-Coco.
MESSAGE TO WOMEN
Dr Sadhana says, "Be independent, confident and strong. Don’t let small hurdles stop you from achieving big. Also, being rooted to your culture and values. Have empathy for the ones who are less privileged and be a student with childlike curiosity all your life."
WORK LIFE BALANCE
Disciplined and focused approach towards your work, be it a small or big commitment, organising yourself well in advance, believing in teamwork, and considering your colleagues as an extended family are the best ways to maintain a proper work life balance. Dr Sadhana believes in being a motivator, not a critic.
INSPIRATION
Her biggest inspiration is Dr Mangala Ketkar, who was the epitome of compassion, humility, and tireless work ethics in serving the patients. Dr Sadhana works towards living by her teachings and hard work with her fellow colleagues in pushing the envelope and setting new benchmarks in healthcare.
