What is Sahyadri

It is a northern part of the Western Ghats of India which runs almost continuously for 640 km north-south, from the Satpura range in the north, go south past Goa, through Karnataka, and into Kerala and TamilNadu ends at Kanyakumari embracing the Indian ocean

Sahyadri mountains are volcanic in nature, with an estimated age of 100 million years, and are made up of mostly basaltic rock. Geologic evidence indicates that they were formed during the break-up of the supercontinent of Gondwana some 150 million years ago.
